Sainte-Chapelle
Come and visit the Sainte Chapelle, a masterpiece of Flamboyant Gothic architecture built by Saint Louis in the heart of the Palais de la Cité on the Ile de la Cité in Paris. Discover its unique stained glass windows rendering the air iridescent with light and colour, symbols of the Heavenly Jerusalem.

Opening / Closing
Following the terror attacks in Paris on friday, november 13, 2015 and to ensure the safety of our visitors, the monument is strictly applying the security measures decided by the french authorities.
The monument is fully opened.
It is strongly recommended not to bring suitcases and luggage to the monument. Only luggage not exceeding 55cm*35cm*20cm will be acceptedLuggage and big items are not allowed.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and delay which may be caused by the extra security checks at the entrance.
Free visits at night : Thursday 21 , Friday 22 and Saturday 23!

Access to the Sainte-Chapelle is controlled by the gendarmerie, it is strictly forbidden for visitors to be in possession of any metal objects such as knives, scissors and any other pointed or sharp metal instrument.

• Two sanctuaries built one on top of the other (1242-1248).
The 15 stained glass windows in the upper chapel, two-thirds of which
are original, depict 1,113 scenes from the Old Testament and the
Passion of Christ. The lower chapel is decorated with an Annunciation,
the oldest wall painting in Paris.
• At the heart of Paris’ monuments.
The relics of the Sainte Chapelle are now housed in the Treasure House
of the nearby Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris. After visiting the
Chapel on the banks of the river, why not go to the adjacent
Conciergerie, the oldest remaining part of the first palace of the
Kings of France.

What people think about it Probably the most unexpected and beautiful sight I saw in Paris. Walk up the circular staircase into the main cathedral, and be prepared to see an unbelievable room filled with stained glass windows. My description falls short of describing the beauty of this place. Extra nice if you visit on a sunny day.
